Hi everyone!

You haven’t heard much from me lately as I took another sabbatical from blogging to continue my studies in Feng Shui.

(There is always more to learn and as you know, feng shui is my passion)!I’m so excited to share some wonderful ideas and tips on how Feng Shui can improve your life! I will be blogging regularly to assist you in any way I can!

I must tell you the joy I personally receive from having good Feng Shui in my own life. I’ve had many challenges,  my share of heartbreak and disappointments but I can tell you truthfully, that with out the balance and  harmony that feng shui has provided for me, I would be a mess!

No, I’m not being dramatic…it’s true!!

I also believe in the power of prayer. Since Feng Shui has absolutely nothing to do with religion, I am free to worship as I wish. Feng Shui will never get in the way of my strong belief in God and my Christian beliefs.

I also receive so much joy from my clients who report such wonderful results from having Feng Shui done in their homes and offices! Maybe that’s why I often suffer from TMJ symptoms as I’m constantly smiling from ear to ear! (I must run that by my doctor)!!

Today I have a tip for you!

MIRRORS!

I get questions about mirrors so often in my practice that I decided to  devote some blogging time to try and clear up some confusion.

So many people ask me about mirrors in the bedroom! In our school of Feng Shui, mirrors placed correctly in a bedroom are a good source of positive energy.

A round or oval mirror in a master bedroom is always good for marital harmony. (If you’re standing at the door of your bedroom, the best place for the mirror would be the far right corner of the room. This is considered the Marriage and Relationship corner of the bedroom).

Another good place would be on the wall behind your bed. Now, many of you worry about earthquakes here in California, but if you have a good handyman who can secure it with bolts, etc. you’ll be fine.

The main “remedy” for a mirror behind the bed is that issues of the past can be released and resolved. (This was important for me personally as I had to work through some painful issues in my own life)!

I have a lovely antique mirror behind my bed and I feel quite safe. The way it’s secured, the entire wall would have to fall, in which case? Oh dear!!

Check in with me again to get some more tips on how to encourage abundance, prosperity, better health and happier relationships with Feng Shui!

I send Many Blessings,

Elaine

How Feng Shui Can Travel With You!

I get asked all the time if Feng Shui can help while traveling? I say “Yes, you can take it with you!”
Let’s say you are traveling and will be staying in a hotel. Or perhaps during the holidays you might be bunking with a family member or even traveling on a cruise ship. The following tips can help no matter how you choose to travel. Traveling can also be stressful so taking your feng shui on the road can help!

I always travel with a small bag of what I call “remedies” and if I happen to leave town without them, I definitely feel the difference!

Let’s say you have just arrived at your hotel and you’re given your room key. Ask if you can see the room first. (All hotels should allow this if you ask).  See if you can have a room where the door to your room does not open across the side or the foot of the bed. These issues may create a negative flow of energy across your bed that might interfere with sleep or cause tiredness in the morning. (You might not be able to do this on your cruise ship or your Mom’s guest room, but try and do your best)!

OK, in a perfect world! Your hotel. See if the bed is in the ‘commanding position’ which is the farthest from the doorway allowing you to have have a good view of the doorway without having to turn your head. I’m sure that most hotels will have this but it’s important to have a headboard. You may find that you will feel more grounded and more in control during your waking hours which can help with stress….

The next thing to check out is that your room is not near or adjacent to stairwells, elevators, ice makers, etc. Ask to move if this is what you find, because the noise interference can potentially lower your personal (chi) energy, not to mention  interrupting your sleep patterns. Do the best you can.  You’ll will not always have a choice but if you do, go for it!

If the foot of your bed faces a mirror, do cover it at night or put a plant in front of it. The issue is not to be able to see yourself in the mirror when lying in bed. (This might cause nightmares in children or disrupt sleep in adults).

So now, you have found your perfect or close to perfect room.

The next step is to keep it as clean as possible! Yes, you will have housekeeping in a hotel (don’t ask your Mom) but it’s amazing how much clutter you can amass in just an hour or so!  Please, no throwing clothes, packages, suitcases, etc. on chairs, tabletops or heaven forbid.. the floor!  Immediately on arriving, put your belongings away. Hang your clothes up in your closet and use all the drawers for putting away all your additional “stuff.” If there is room, hide your suitcases in the closet. A clean non-cluttered room will allow the energy to flow and you will sleep and  feel better on awakening. This suggestion is for wherever you are. Be it hotel, family guest room, cruise ship stateroom, or your Bed and Breakfast Inn!

Now you are ready to put some personal belongings you have brought from home around the room. Place photos of your children, spouses, children, pets, even friends.. … The photos will bring you closer to home with a feeling of warmth and happiness. I never travel anywhere without photos of my family and my beloved felines. They are all in lovely frames that I place near my bed and across the room where I can see them on arising.

I also bring my two favorite crystals to place in the SW corner of my hotel room or even my family guest room. (The SW far right corner from the door is the Relationship area). I visualize a very happy experience while I’m away from home…. Good communications, happy family and/or business gatherings and safe travel. I also bring my essential oils (especially lavender for calming) and my diffuzer for a sense of tranquility. I also try to place a small bowl or glass of water for the “shui” of feng shui near the door to my room. This helps in attracting good healthy chi into your space.

I must say when I implement my travel “remedies” my travel experiences are always close to perfection!

Happy Travels to one and all!

Love

Elaine

Clutter and Your Relationships!.

Not too long ago, I had a consultation with a client who called me in to help her with a relationship she had with her boyfriend. They both felt “stuck” and were fighting all the time. When I got to the front door and rang the bell, I heard my client yell out, “Oh, just a minute…I want to clear the doorway.” I had a bad feeling!
As I entered the home, or rather “climbed” into the home over boxes, laundry and kitty litter, I could only wonder at what she had cleared out. My initial response was to tell her immediately that I could not work with her feng shui because of her enormous amount of clutter, particularly in her entry way. Feng Shui is about creating good energy in your space to help you achieve a healthier more prosperous life. In order to do that, the energy or “chi” has to be able to move freely throughout your home (or business spaces). The good energy should enter your spaces without having to plow through clutter. It will have no place to go but stagnate right where it is!
She had read that feng shui was able to help create a wonderful peaceful and communicative bedroom, especially with sparing partners. She begged me to look at her bedroom. She requested that I give her immediate “remedies” to help cure her relationship. I tried not to faint when I entered her bedroom.. She had clutter in every area of the room that went up the walls to her ceilings!
After explaining to her that there was no way I could possibly help her until she had a dramatic clutter clearing event, I put my arms around her and assured her that I would help her. I put her in contact with a wonderful professional organizer. She made the appointment and they both worked on transforming her home. My client then called me back. It was now time for Feng Shui!  I didn’t recognize her home!  It was simply remarkable! I looked at her and she was beaming. She looked healthier, rosy cheeks and she had lost weight. She and her boyfriend were starting to get along better, but it was now time to do her feng shui. I gave her some remedies to help with what had already started and the result was, I was just invited to their wedding in October!. They are happier than they have ever been, and I am so happy for them. .

Bottom line, clutter can keep you stagnant and stuck in so MANY areas of your life. Clear the clutter and feel what a difference it makes. You will feel joyous!

Is your bedroom over your garage?

Greetings all!

Is your bedroom over your garage!! (Help is on the way)!

When I am consulting with clients, I have already read their floor plans so I have an opportunity to see many issues on paper before I visit their homes.

One issue in particular that concerns me, is a bedroom over a garage. If any member of your family is sleeping over your garage it could have a negative affect on health and well-being.

If you have a garage under your bedroom or under your child’s bedroom, we need to talk!

A garage is considered in Feng Shui a “negative energy space.” Meaning that a garage is an unstable place. Sound troublesome? Let me explain.

There are a few issues that you should be aware of when you sleep above a garage. The garage is normally a place where cars are parked OR (mostly) clutter has gained control over the whole space! Sound familiar?

Since clutter stops the healing flow of (chi) or energy, you are literally sleeping over stagnation! Not too swell! If your health is fragile or you are not sleeping well, this could make it worse..

Children maybe even more affected! .

When cars are going in and out, the energy in the garage has a hard time stabilizing, creating a space that is weak and changeable. On top of that, parked cars also create a huge magnetic energy field, and that issue has been associated with lethargy, headaches, sleep disorders and certain illnesses. Sleeping over that would make me a tad nervous!

Now, what to do??

Here are two of the major “remedies” we use for correcting the negative aspects of this issue.

  1. Hang a large brass wind chime in the center ceiling of the garage. (This will help move energy upward and begin to dissipate some of the stagnation).
  2. In the above bedroom, to help stabilize the entire space, place four heavy weights, either 4 rocks, 4 heavy vases, or 4 quartz crystals in all four corners of the room. (This will also work to “ground” the occupant above).

Let me know if you sleep better and have more energy! Also, you may see your child do better in school!!

Many Blessings to you!

Elaine

                                     LET THERE BE LIGHT!!

There are so many ways to light your life and so much to choose from. Lighting can be functional, decorative, ambient or used as an accent.

However you choose to light your home, you might also want to take advantage of using certain feng shui principles in lighting to add a special energy or good chi to your home or workspace.

Here are some tips on how to invite good energy into your home.

  1. We love chandeliers! Chandeliers are such a wonderful way to energize a room. If you are looking for Romance, hanging a chandelier in the Southwest corner of any room (especially your bedroom) is a wonderful way to attract a new partner or to help in bringing in new energy to an existing relationship.
  2. Invite excellent energy into your home by installing bright lights just inside and outside your front door.
  3. A light with a soft glow placed in the Southeast corner of your home can light your way to more abundance in your life.
  4. Crystals reflect light and create energy, and move the flow of chi throughout a space.
  5. Wearing certain combinations of crystals can calm the mind and strengthen your personal energy field. For centuries, crystals have been used for their healing abilities. Hanging certain colors of crystals can bring healing energy to your home, just as wearing them as bracelets or other forms of jewelry can help heal your body!
  6. http://www.way2fengshui.com/Crystals.html

If you’d like to invite more prosperity, better health, happier relationships, and more well-being into your life, invest in a variety of beautiful soft and decorative lighting!

You just might be surprised at the positive changes in your life!

Many Blessings,

Elaine

The use of Mirrors in Feng Shui

The use of mirrors in feng shui is often referred to as “the aspirin of feng shui.”

The reason is that mirrors produce many benefits and can create a host of enhancements, protection, and adjustments to aid in the healthy flow of energy throughout your environment.

One of the main reasons I love mirrors is that they provide a wonderful opportunity to pull in the aspects of nature into your space. (I often suggest the placement of a certain type of convex mirror for my clients who live near the ocean).

By placing a mirror on the outside wall of their home, reflecting the ocean, the mirror is used to pull in either Wealth, Business or Relationship energy)!

Feng Shui mirrors may also be used to push back what would be considered negative energy. By placing (what is called a BaGua mirror) facing the negativity, the mirror will reflect the negative energy back to it’s source.

One instance of a negativity would be your front door facing a T intersection, or outside your bedroom window, a huge power line is close by!

One place a mirror should never live is at the foot of your bed. This is agreed on by all schools of Feng Shui!

That being said, our school of Feng Shui teaches us that a round or oblong mirror placed in the SW wall of your bedroom can enhance marital harmony!

If your entryway seems congested first; clear out the clutter, and then open up the space with a mirror properly positioned on the wall.

If you’re looking for a wonderful assortment of mirrors to choose  from, you  may find something special from the website below. I shop here and love my choices! !

If you’re looking for a way to begin attracting  good feng shui into your home, good lighting will always help to stimulate a healthy flow of energy. It’s one of the best “remedies” for promoting harmony and balance within your environment.

You can attract wonderful energy into your home by installing bright lights both inside and outside your front door. These lights should be left on throughout the entire night for maximum benefits.

I Love Chandeliers!!

Whenever I come across  a chandelier in a client’s home, I know that good chi is already circulating! The crystals within the chandelier are incredible for reflecting light and energy.

A crystal chandelier hanging inside and above your front entry is probably the most beautiful remedy you could possibly have for bringing in healthy abundant energy to you and your family!

Invest in some attractive brilliant lighting. You may find that you will begin attracting more prosperity, better health and happier relationships!

I love this site (check out below) to shop for great lighting.  I have found some wonderful lighting accents to perk up my own feng shui!

Did you know that good lighting can be your first step in bringing good feng shui into your environment?

And, best of all, lighting can be one of the most cost effective solutions in bringing light and energy into your home or office.

The letters on the spinning wheel are known to translate to GOOD ENERGY or GOOD CHI coming your way!

I wanted to send you all the gift  of healthy energy and also a good Feng Shui Tip for Today!

BTW, I will be doing a FREE tele class with Landscape artist Julie Molinaire on Thursday, March 15th at 6:30pm PST and the subject will be: FENG SHUI FOR YOUR GARDEN.  Please click on the link below for more information. We would love to have you join us. It will be a very fun and informative call!

http://yourgardengoddess.com/feng-shui-in-the-garden/

Today, I would like to give you your first good Feng Shui gardening tip!

When planting, try to avoid trees or plants that have thorns. (Thorns or ‘pointed leaves’ CUT energy instead of compelling energy to flow freely!

Fruit trees are wonderful  as long as they’re kept healthy. Fruit trees are  exceptional because they attract life into your garden, as in birds, other animals and even buzzing insects!

This creates an abundance of good healthy chi that circulates and nourishes your entire out door space. Your whole family will appreciate this as you spend quality time outside this Spring and Summer!

Yours in Good Feng Shui! Many Blessings,

Elaine

Good Health, Good Feng Shui and FOOD!

0

Posted by | Posted in Feng Shui for Health | Posted on 22-02-2012

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , ,

EmailFacebookGoogle GmailGoogle+LinkedInTwitterPrintFriendlyShare

The food we eat is about balancing the nutrients in our body to produce good health and energy. And it’s another source of achieving  Good Feng Shui!

I once knew an individual who only ate foods of one color! Green! Eccentric? Perhaps, but what he was doing to his system was unfortunate, and he thought he was “eating healthy!”

So you’re saying, “but he ate healthy veggies, how can that be bad?” Well, too much of a good thing CAN be bad! It’s all about balance!  The ying and yang of life.

My own opinion is not to be too fanatical about food in the name of HEALTH. Having a diet that excludes one entire food group is not what I would consider healthy!

To produce harmony and balance in our bodies, we need a variety of foods to stay healthy. Healthy ‘chi’ and  life balance are directly influenced by the food we eat. It begins with how the food is harvested, going right through how we cook it and the environment and mood in how we eat it!

So grabbing dinner standing over the sink is not recommended. Having arguments over dinner is harmful no matter how many organic foods are on the menu.

The food itself should achieve harmony and balance. Positive energy flows through food as well as everything else, therefore the source of that energy should be handled very carefully.

How We Achieve  Balance and Harmony in the Foods We Eat.

COLORS:

If you would like to eat to maintain good balance, good health and good feng shui, it is recommended that your plate contain a variety of colors and textures that resonate with each other.

FLAVORS

It’s important to try and use the yin/yang balance in your flavors as well. Achieving a good balance would include a meal that contains strong flavors along with delicate ones, all balanced by the use of vibrant colors.

AROMAS

It is so important to appreciate the aroma of the food cooking. It sets the tone of the meal soon to be enjoyed. If the cooking aroma ‘turns you off’ it’s best not to eat it as your body naturally will resist the food even if you are not aware of it.

Bon Appetite, and enjoy the good feng shui of your delicious dinner tonight!

Many Blessings,

Elaine
