I get asked all the time if Feng Shui can help while traveling? I say “Yes, you can take it with you!”
Let’s say you are traveling and will be staying in a hotel. Or perhaps during the holidays you might be bunking with a family member or even traveling on a cruise ship. The following tips can help no matter how you choose to travel. Traveling can also be stressful so taking your feng shui on the road can help!

I always travel with a small bag of what I call “remedies” and if I happen to leave town without them, I definitely feel the difference!

Let’s say you have just arrived at your hotel and you’re given your room key. Ask if you can see the room first. (All hotels should allow this if you ask).  See if you can have a room where the door to your room does not open across the side or the foot of the bed. These issues may create a negative flow of energy across your bed that might interfere with sleep or cause tiredness in the morning. (You might not be able to do this on your cruise ship or your Mom’s guest room, but try and do your best)!

OK, in a perfect world! Your hotel. See if the bed is in the ‘commanding position’ which is the farthest from the doorway allowing you to have have a good view of the doorway without having to turn your head. I’m sure that most hotels will have this but it’s important to have a headboard. You may find that you will feel more grounded and more in control during your waking hours which can help with stress….

The next thing to check out is that your room is not near or adjacent to stairwells, elevators, ice makers, etc. Ask to move if this is what you find, because the noise interference can potentially lower your personal (chi) energy, not to mention  interrupting your sleep patterns. Do the best you can.  You’ll will not always have a choice but if you do, go for it!

If the foot of your bed faces a mirror, do cover it at night or put a plant in front of it. The issue is not to be able to see yourself in the mirror when lying in bed. (This might cause nightmares in children or disrupt sleep in adults).

So now, you have found your perfect or close to perfect room.

The next step is to keep it as clean as possible! Yes, you will have housekeeping in a hotel (don’t ask your Mom) but it’s amazing how much clutter you can amass in just an hour or so!  Please, no throwing clothes, packages, suitcases, etc. on chairs, tabletops or heaven forbid.. the floor!  Immediately on arriving, put your belongings away. Hang your clothes up in your closet and use all the drawers for putting away all your additional “stuff.” If there is room, hide your suitcases in the closet. A clean non-cluttered room will allow the energy to flow and you will sleep and  feel better on awakening. This suggestion is for wherever you are. Be it hotel, family guest room, cruise ship stateroom, or your Bed and Breakfast Inn!

Now you are ready to put some personal belongings you have brought from home around the room. Place photos of your children, spouses, children, pets, even friends.. … The photos will bring you closer to home with a feeling of warmth and happiness. I never travel anywhere without photos of my family and my beloved felines. They are all in lovely frames that I place near my bed and across the room where I can see them on arising.

I also bring my two favorite crystals to place in the SW corner of my hotel room or even my family guest room. (The SW far right corner from the door is the Relationship area). I visualize a very happy experience while I’m away from home…. Good communications, happy family and/or business gatherings and safe travel. I also bring my essential oils (especially lavender for calming) and my diffuzer for a sense of tranquility. I also try to place a small bowl or glass of water for the “shui” of feng shui near the door to my room. This helps in attracting good healthy chi into your space.

I must say when I implement my travel “remedies” my travel experiences are always close to perfection!

Happy Travels to one and all!

Love

The letters on the spinning wheel are known to translate to GOOD ENERGY or GOOD CHI coming your way!

I wanted to send you all the gift  of healthy energy and also a good Feng Shui Tip for Today!

BTW, I will be doing a FREE tele class with Landscape artist Julie Molinaire on Thursday, March 15th at 6:30pm PST and the subject will be: FENG SHUI FOR YOUR GARDEN.  Please click on the link below for more information. We would love to have you join us. It will be a very fun and informative call!

http://yourgardengoddess.com/feng-shui-in-the-garden/

Today, I would like to give you your first good Feng Shui gardening tip!

When planting, try to avoid trees or plants that have thorns. (Thorns or ‘pointed leaves’ CUT energy instead of compelling energy to flow freely!

Fruit trees are wonderful  as long as they’re kept healthy. Fruit trees are  exceptional because they attract life into your garden, as in birds, other animals and even buzzing insects!

This creates an abundance of good healthy chi that circulates and nourishes your entire out door space. Your whole family will appreciate this as you spend quality time outside this Spring and Summer!

Yours in Good Feng Shui! Many Blessings,

Elaine

We are all affected by color! Every color evokes a different emotion in the mind of the beholder A red rose or a white lily will evoke different feelings altogether.

Let’s look at a few powerful colors and their attributes.

Light blue, white, lavender and  light green are all YIN colors (female) which gives a feeling of passive energy. These colors are dreamy in quality. Too much of these qualities can throw you out of balance. Adding some YANG colors (masculine) vibrant colors can balance the YIN and YANG of the space and add energy where needed.

Purple, according to Feng Shui principles is for physical healing and spiritual awareness. Placed in the SW area of your home, it can also power up your Wealth chi.

The colors representing fire (red) and wood (vibrant green) are powerful colors. These colors will give you positive energy needed for motivation!

Yellow, orange and gold are earth colors and they are often used in the center of the home for good health energy.

I will be blogging more often about the importance of color in our every day lives and how color can affect us.

In a depressed person, a lack of color may make the depression worse.

Why Feng Shui??

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR HAVING GOOD FENG SHUI?

The essential reason for having feng shui done on your home and/or office space is so the energy or (chi) that flows throughout those spaces  can be more conducive to your health, development and success in life.

By optimizing and tuning the flow of energy within these spaces with feng shui,  you will directly benefit by feeling an enhanced energy in your every day life. You might notice your health improves. Your business may become more successful and perhaps, finances will improve as well. Relationships also may become happier and you will notice more harmony within your home and workspace.

Feng Shui Tip:

Keep Your stove clean!!

Did you know that your stove links to your money situation? That’s right!!

Keeping your stove clean cultivates positive Wealth Energy.  A stove that  has oil and/or food droppings can literally stagnate your flow of wealth and make it harder for you to hold onto money! So mop up those spills, my friends, and visualize money coming to you and not flowing out of your hands too quickly!

WHY IS BAMBOO CONSIDERED TO BE LUCKY?

I’m sure that you have all heard of “lucky bamboo” the lovely leafy plant that beautifies any area it is placed in.

But why, in Feng Shui, is it considered to be a lucky plant?

Lucky Bamboo is one of the most popular feng shui “remedies.” The plant itself is very easy to care for and is very tolerant of most conditions.

The bamboo plant teaches us wisdom, strength, and how to be open and flexible. Some of the plants have twisted stalks that reach up and flower, teaching us that adversity can be overcome successfully.

Bamboo is  an amazingly beautiful plant. It will create a very peaceful and wise energy to any area where it is placed. Feng shui bamboo is considered lucky because of it’ s strong growth and vitality.

Bamboo floors are considered to be the highest in good “chi” or energy. If you are “lucky’ enough to be able to install bamboo floors, you are adding exceptional balance and harmony throughout your home.

I get all my beautiful BAMBOO PLANTS and MONEY TREES here! Just click here and take a look at all of their beautiful plants!

If you choose to order from them, the plants and trees are sent directly to your home fresh and and vital!

How Does Feng Shui Work?

EmailFacebookGoogle GmailGoogle+LinkedInTwitterPrintFriendlyShare

Many people ask me how does Feng Shui work?

It’s a logical question, especially since there seems to be so much mystery associated with the process.

The logic is actually quite simple. Chi or energy is a life force that flows throughout our bodies and around our homes and workplaces. What good feng shui does is balance and harmonize this life force energy so we become healthier in mind, body and spirit and we are more apt to realize our full potential in life!

Chi is a powerful force that flows through all living things. When your own personal chi is at it’s highest, you will feel strong and vital. Excercise, meditation, and being  with supportive family and friends will all contribute to stronger personal chi.

The chi of your home, for instance, can either work for you or against you. Every moment of every day your home environment is either supporting you or draining you of that all important life energy.

If you are being drained by your space, you might notice that your health may not be optimal. Your relationships may be suffering, and your ability to make and hold on to money maybe compromised in some way.

Your home is your “second body” and what goes on in your home directly impacts your life in general. either positively or negatively. Even though you might not be aware that this is happening, the inner truth of feng shui is that if you enhance your home’s chi, it will have a direct and immediate impact on your life. Therefore, having good feng shui and enhancing this powerful energy will create a wonderful pathway to maximizing your destiny!

Good Feng Shui is available to anyone who desires a more balanced and harmonious life!

Blessings,

Elaine

Hawaiian Feng Shui

I count my blessings daily and one of my biggest blessings is the opportunity to spend one week a year with my family in Maui!

I look forward to this trip every year. I come back happier, rejuvenated and ready to do my best work after my return.

I am always aware of the wonderful Feng Shui in Hawaii. The Hawaiian islands are all about very healthy chi (energy). I don’t mean just the cool breezes, the beautiful terrain, the colors, the flower aromas or the delicious fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s the WATER!

Water and good feng shui go hand in hand and of course the islands are surrounded by water. It’s the kind of water I’m talking about and Hawaii has some of the best!

Unless you’re looking for surfing beaches where the waves are suitably high for the sport, most of the Hawaiian  beaches have what we call a “soft surf.” This means that the waves don’t crash onto the beaches but rather flow gently onto the sand. This creates a gentle flow of positive healthy chi and anyone lucky enough to be near it becomes invigorated.

I believe that this is one of the main reasons people feel their healthiest  while vacationing in Hawaii. The incredible chi of these beautiful waters is what I miss most. I always encourage people headed for Hawaii to get in the ocean and not spend their days baking by the pool.

You’ll really feel the difference!

Blessings,

Elaine

Windows, Drapes, Curtains and Feng Shui!

We spend more than 80% of our time in our homes, so it is very important to make sure that the energy (chi) flows smoothly.

Windows, drapes and curtains are extremely important is determining how the energy will flow throughout your space.

Fabrics, color, material, windows and window treatments, all affect the chi of your home.

Here are a few tips on how to improve the energy of your home.

  1. Always open your curtains and drapes during the daytime to allow the positive energy of the sun to lighten and energize your home.
  2. Keep your windows clean and sparkling as much as possible. Your windows are the “windows of YOUR world” so peering out of dusty smudged, dirty windows may affect how your see your life. and inhibit opportunities for the entire family!
  3. Curtains and drapes should have curves within the design. As you draw the curtains at night, they should be long enough to “pool” on the floor.
  4. See that your window treatments open and close easily. If they ‘stick’ or if they are difficult to maneuver, it may manifest as struggle in your own life, and we don’t want that!
  5. It is considered bad feng shui to have your window treatment hang limply on each side of your window.

It’s always nice to match your window treatments to the seasons if that’s possible. Heavier fabrics for Winter are protective, and lighter fabrics for Spring and Summer bring in healthy new Chi!

In my practice of Feng Shui, I am always looking for the very best of the best to recommend to my clients. I have found the best in Tami Smight of:  www.tamismightinteriors.com

Tami creates the most exquisite window designs that you will simply adore!

She is so talented and personally, you will absolutely adore her! Every one of my clients who was fortunate enough to have Tami design for them was over the moon with the the most wonderful results. She is simply the BEST!

You can find Tami’s website as you scroll down on the right. She is a member of Harmonious Home Team.

Blessings to all!

Elaine

Why is the front door so important in Feng Shui?

EmailFacebookGoogle GmailGoogle+LinkedInTwitterPrintFriendlyShare

So many of my clients tell me that they never use their front door to enter and leave their homes. Coming in the side door or through the garage seems to be so much easier.

The front door is considered “the mouth of chi” in feng shui terms. In other words, this is where that all important energy will enter your home. And along with that energy comes opportunities!

If you consistently enter from any door other than the front door, you may run the risk of loosing career opportunities.

If you consider yourself an important person in your business, never enter from a back door. This will lessen your importance. Entering from your front doors in both home and office will double your career opportunities.

It’s much easier for me to enter my home through my garage, but I know enough to know that that’s not best for my career and business success. I make a little detour around to my front door and enter correctly. NOTE: I don’t even notice it anymore. It now…. just IS!

Feng Shui For Your Office

Just as the methodology behind the principles of Feng Shui can help you improve the positive Chi in your home, the same principles can be applied to your business environments to work toward helping you achieve the ultimate in success!

Feng Shui applied to an office space can enhance the working conditions of the occupants. It may help to draw in continuous business success and even raise the revenue of the business. At the very least, your workspace will be more in balance; allowing for a sense of harmony between you and those you work with.

Clutter:

I can’t stress enough how important it is to get rid of clutter in your workspace. In my practice, I have seen businesses ‘take off’ when they simply began a clutter clearing and organization process! Clutter stimulates an energy that is negative and must be minimized!

Desk Shape:

The shape of your desk can have an impact on the level of productivity of the person who sits at the desk.

Best shapes: Curves and soft edges can encourage creativity, while desks that are shaped like a kidney are designed in the form of the human body and gives an individual the subliminal feeling of internal alignment.

Plants:

Making use of plants in an office space will allow individuals an opportunity to connect with the world of nature. When I’m consulting with clients, I will often recommend a properly placed plant or tree to help foster new ideas while increasing the flow of positive Chi.

Green plants help to bring an ‘aliveness’ to an otherwise stagnant environment while providing additional beauty to the workplace.

I will be giving you more tips on how to increase your business success using Feng Shui principles in my near future blogs, so stay tuned!
