Hi everyone!

You haven’t heard much from me lately as I took another sabbatical from blogging to continue my studies in Feng Shui.

(There is always more to learn and as you know, feng shui is my passion)!I’m so excited to share some wonderful ideas and tips on how Feng Shui can improve your life! I will be blogging regularly to assist you in any way I can!

I must tell you the joy I personally receive from having good Feng Shui in my own life. I’ve had many challenges,  my share of heartbreak and disappointments but I can tell you truthfully, that with out the balance and  harmony that feng shui has provided for me, I would be a mess!

No, I’m not being dramatic…it’s true!!

I also believe in the power of prayer. Since Feng Shui has absolutely nothing to do with religion, I am free to worship as I wish. Feng Shui will never get in the way of my strong belief in God and my Christian beliefs.

I also receive so much joy from my clients who report such wonderful results from having Feng Shui done in their homes and offices! Maybe that’s why I often suffer from TMJ symptoms as I’m constantly smiling from ear to ear! (I must run that by my doctor)!!

Today I have a tip for you!

MIRRORS!

I get questions about mirrors so often in my practice that I decided to  devote some blogging time to try and clear up some confusion.

So many people ask me about mirrors in the bedroom! In our school of Feng Shui, mirrors placed correctly in a bedroom are a good source of positive energy.

A round or oval mirror in a master bedroom is always good for marital harmony. (If you’re standing at the door of your bedroom, the best place for the mirror would be the far right corner of the room. This is considered the Marriage and Relationship corner of the bedroom).

Another good place would be on the wall behind your bed. Now, many of you worry about earthquakes here in California, but if you have a good handyman who can secure it with bolts, etc. you’ll be fine.

The main “remedy” for a mirror behind the bed is that issues of the past can be released and resolved. (This was important for me personally as I had to work through some painful issues in my own life)!

I have a lovely antique mirror behind my bed and I feel quite safe. The way it’s secured, the entire wall would have to fall, in which case? Oh dear!!

Check in with me again to get some more tips on how to encourage abundance, prosperity, better health and happier relationships with Feng Shui!

I send Many Blessings,

Elaine

How Feng Shui Can Travel With You!

I get asked all the time if Feng Shui can help while traveling? I say “Yes, you can take it with you!”
Let’s say you are traveling and will be staying in a hotel. Or perhaps during the holidays you might be bunking with a family member or even traveling on a cruise ship. The following tips can help no matter how you choose to travel. Traveling can also be stressful so taking your feng shui on the road can help!

I always travel with a small bag of what I call “remedies” and if I happen to leave town without them, I definitely feel the difference!

Let’s say you have just arrived at your hotel and you’re given your room key. Ask if you can see the room first. (All hotels should allow this if you ask).  See if you can have a room where the door to your room does not open across the side or the foot of the bed. These issues may create a negative flow of energy across your bed that might interfere with sleep or cause tiredness in the morning. (You might not be able to do this on your cruise ship or your Mom’s guest room, but try and do your best)!

OK, in a perfect world! Your hotel. See if the bed is in the ‘commanding position’ which is the farthest from the doorway allowing you to have have a good view of the doorway without having to turn your head. I’m sure that most hotels will have this but it’s important to have a headboard. You may find that you will feel more grounded and more in control during your waking hours which can help with stress….

The next thing to check out is that your room is not near or adjacent to stairwells, elevators, ice makers, etc. Ask to move if this is what you find, because the noise interference can potentially lower your personal (chi) energy, not to mention  interrupting your sleep patterns. Do the best you can.  You’ll will not always have a choice but if you do, go for it!

If the foot of your bed faces a mirror, do cover it at night or put a plant in front of it. The issue is not to be able to see yourself in the mirror when lying in bed. (This might cause nightmares in children or disrupt sleep in adults).

So now, you have found your perfect or close to perfect room.

The next step is to keep it as clean as possible! Yes, you will have housekeeping in a hotel (don’t ask your Mom) but it’s amazing how much clutter you can amass in just an hour or so!  Please, no throwing clothes, packages, suitcases, etc. on chairs, tabletops or heaven forbid.. the floor!  Immediately on arriving, put your belongings away. Hang your clothes up in your closet and use all the drawers for putting away all your additional “stuff.” If there is room, hide your suitcases in the closet. A clean non-cluttered room will allow the energy to flow and you will sleep and  feel better on awakening. This suggestion is for wherever you are. Be it hotel, family guest room, cruise ship stateroom, or your Bed and Breakfast Inn!

Now you are ready to put some personal belongings you have brought from home around the room. Place photos of your children, spouses, children, pets, even friends.. … The photos will bring you closer to home with a feeling of warmth and happiness. I never travel anywhere without photos of my family and my beloved felines. They are all in lovely frames that I place near my bed and across the room where I can see them on arising.

I also bring my two favorite crystals to place in the SW corner of my hotel room or even my family guest room. (The SW far right corner from the door is the Relationship area). I visualize a very happy experience while I’m away from home…. Good communications, happy family and/or business gatherings and safe travel. I also bring my essential oils (especially lavender for calming) and my diffuzer for a sense of tranquility. I also try to place a small bowl or glass of water for the “shui” of feng shui near the door to my room. This helps in attracting good healthy chi into your space.

I must say when I implement my travel “remedies” my travel experiences are always close to perfection!

Happy Travels to one and all!

Love

Elaine

Don’t Waste That Lemon Peel!

DON’T WASTE THAT LEMON PEEL

My good friend, Jenny sent me this article and I thought I’d share it with you!

Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using or consuming the
entire lemon so nothing is wasted. How can you use the whole lemon without waste?

Simple..place the lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator.
Once the lemon is frozen, get out your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods.

Sprinkle it on whiskey, wine, vegetables, salad, ice cream, soup, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi and all fish dishes..

All of these foods will unexpectedly have a wonderful taste!

What’s the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your dishes?

Well,  lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. And yes, that’s what you’ve been wasting.

But from now on, by following this simple procedure of freezing the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes, you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier!

So place your lemon in your freezer, and then grate it on your meal every day. It is a key to make your foods tastier and you get to live healthier and longer!

Feng Shui Tips For Your Home Office.

FENG SHUI FOR YOUR HOME OFFICE

I am very particular about the feng shui of my home office because I know how important it is for the success in my business.

Good feng shui starts with an uncluttered work space. When your work space is uncluttered, and you have sufficient room to move, you will find that you will be able to think more clearly and be much more productive.

When placing your desk in the room, it’s best to occupy one of the farthest corners of the room. In this way, you have will have what is called the “commanding position”of the room. This is where the CEO of a major company would sit. Even though you may not be a CEO, you are still the head of your own business. Being in command of your own business is essential for success!.

THE DESK POSITION IS KNOWN TO  BE THE NUMBER ONE  FENG SHUI FACTOR IN MAKING OR BREAKING A CAREER! !

When I have worked with small business owners who mainly work out of their home offices, it’s amazing how their businesses improved simply by moving their desks to a better position. It’s quite remarkable that a simple change can do so much good!

It’s all about the proper energy of the room!

Even if you have a main office outside of the home, it’s still important to have good feng shui in your home office as well, if you wish to optimize your business success!!

Never sit with your back to the door!!

 This is particularly important!

If your back faces the door. you become a symbolic ‘victim’ in your business, which could make it easier for others to take advantage of you.

If you can’t move your desk position, you can place a mirror on the wall above your desk, or in a small frame on your desk to reflect the door.

In the following weeks, I will be giving you additional tips on how to attract more business success, so stay tuned!

Many Blessings,

Elaine

The use of Mirrors in Feng Shui

The use of mirrors in feng shui is often referred to as “the aspirin of feng shui.”

The reason is that mirrors produce many benefits and can create a host of enhancements, protection, and adjustments to aid in the healthy flow of energy throughout your environment.

One of the main reasons I love mirrors is that they provide a wonderful opportunity to pull in the aspects of nature into your space. (I often suggest the placement of a certain type of convex mirror for my clients who live near the ocean).

By placing a mirror on the outside wall of their home, reflecting the ocean, the mirror is used to pull in either Wealth, Business or Relationship energy)!

Feng Shui mirrors may also be used to push back what would be considered negative energy. By placing (what is called a BaGua mirror) facing the negativity, the mirror will reflect the negative energy back to it’s source.

One instance of a negativity would be your front door facing a T intersection, or outside your bedroom window, a huge power line is close by!

One place a mirror should never live is at the foot of your bed. This is agreed on by all schools of Feng Shui!

That being said, our school of Feng Shui teaches us that a round or oblong mirror placed in the SW wall of your bedroom can enhance marital harmony!

If your entryway seems congested first; clear out the clutter, and then open up the space with a mirror properly positioned on the wall.

If you’re looking for a wonderful assortment of mirrors to choose  from, you  may find something special from the website below. I shop here and love my choices! !

Feng Shui Colors!

We are all affected by color! Every color evokes a different emotion in the mind of the beholder A red rose or a white lily will evoke different feelings altogether.

Let’s look at a few powerful colors and their attributes.

Light blue, white, lavender and  light green are all YIN colors (female) which gives a feeling of passive energy. These colors are dreamy in quality. Too much of these qualities can throw you out of balance. Adding some YANG colors (masculine) vibrant colors can balance the YIN and YANG of the space and add energy where needed.

Purple, according to Feng Shui principles is for physical healing and spiritual awareness. Placed in the SW area of your home, it can also power up your Wealth chi.

The colors representing fire (red) and wood (vibrant green) are powerful colors. These colors will give you positive energy needed for motivation!

Yellow, orange and gold are earth colors and they are often used in the center of the home for good health energy.

I will be blogging more often about the importance of color in our every day lives and how color can affect us.

In a depressed person, a lack of color may make the depression worse.

Why Feng Shui??

EmailFacebookGoogle GmailGoogle+LinkedInTwitterPrintFriendlyShare

WHAT IS THE REASON FOR HAVING GOOD FENG SHUI?

The essential reason for having feng shui done on your home and/or office space is so the energy or (chi) that flows throughout those spaces  can be more conducive to your health, development and success in life.

By optimizing and tuning the flow of energy within these spaces with feng shui,  you will directly benefit by feeling an enhanced energy in your every day life. You might notice your health improves. Your business may become more successful and perhaps, finances will improve as well. Relationships also may become happier and you will notice more harmony within your home and workspace.

Feng Shui Tip:

Keep Your stove clean!!

Did you know that your stove links to your money situation? That’s right!!

Keeping your stove clean cultivates positive Wealth Energy.  A stove that  has oil and/or food droppings can literally stagnate your flow of wealth and make it harder for you to hold onto money! So mop up those spills, my friends, and visualize money coming to you and not flowing out of your hands too quickly!

Bamboo for Good Feng Shui!

You may have heard the term “Lucky Bamboo” connected to the practice of Feng Shui.

You would be right!

Bamboo is truly an amazing plant, and it is one of the most popular feng shui “remedies” used to bring harmony and balance into your home.

Bamboo will bring a very peaceful and wise energy into your home or workspace.

If you are looking toward achieving a tranquil and peaceful environment in your home, think about using Lucky Bamboo plants in designated areas in your space.

I have found the most incredible Bamboo plant arrangements at: http://way2fengshui.com/resources. My favorite is the Braided Pineapple plant! You must check out this beauty!

When you get to this page, scroll down and click on the Eastern Leaf banner which will take you directly to their page. Look on your left column and click on LUCKY BAMBOO. You’ll see EXOTICS…click there and you’ll see the most amazing Braided Pineapple plant!

Right now, this one adorns my front entry and welcomes everyone who enters my home!

When I order from this company, my plants always arrive fresh and green and looking so happy!! I love them!

Another important reason why bamboo is such a great home remedy is that the arrangements are designed to contain all of the important 5 elements for good feng shui.

For instance:

WOOD: The Bamboo itself,  and the color GREEN

EARTH: The rocks, sand or pebbles the bamboo sits in.

WATER: The water the bamboo grows in.

FIRE:  Most pots will be adorned with a red, maroon or pink ribbon tied to them.

METAL: A glass pot would represent the element of Metal.

If you are lucky enough to have bamboo plants growing in your garden, you already know how their rustling sound can be so soothing to your senses.

My friend and colleague Julie Molinaire, (Landscape designer extraordinaire) can assist you in finding the perfect feng shui bamboo for your garden!  Find her at: http://thegrassisalwaysgreener.net

I’ll be talking more about feng shui gardens with Julie in the near future, so stay tuned!

Blessings,

Elaine

Feng Shui Tip Today! (Bells)

I just want to share with you  a wonderful process of clearing away any negative energy that may have collected around you.

Most of us know individuals who after spending time with them, seem to drain us of vital energy. It could be a family member or a good friend who you love dearly, but after an afternoon or evening with them, you want to curl up in a ball and sleep!

Try this instead!

Find a single BELL and have someone other than the person who drains you, of course, start to ring the bell over your head. Have them hold it about 6 inches away from your body and trace your body from head to two, (three times around).

See if you don’t feel more energized and more emotionally balanced after you complete this.

Do the same for your partner, and cleanse her/his body of stuck negative energy.

You should both feel great to go on with your day!

Blessings, Elaine

Spring Clean your way2goodfengshui!

Here in California the sun is finally out!! Contrary to popular thought it does rain in California and this year we’ve had more than enough!

Today, as I gaze out my window and view my luscious green and colorful garden, thank you Julie Molinaire, landscape designer extraordinaire! (Meet Julie on the right side of this page)! I realized that Spring is in the air which prompted this post.

I’m about to start my Spring Cleaning which I do every year to clean out, clear out, declutter and give my own Feng Shui a boost!

I know, I’ve said it before, but I can’t stress it enough that when clutter starts to accumulate, imbalance occurs in your personal an business life.

We can’t have that!

Cleaning out clutter will create a sense of harmony and peace in your space and it will bring positive energy into your home and business life.

You don’t have to do the whole house in one day. Start small. Maybe your closet first, then maybe all that stuff inside your front door that’s been collecting over the winter. I know that when I clean and organize my kitchen shelves and cabinets, I feel like I’ve won the marathon!

So, when you ‘let go’ of things that no longer serve you, you will be rewarded with more energy, better health, more vitality and success in business.

Yours in Good Feng Shui!

Elaine
