ONE of my most favorite assignments is to work with The Housewives of Orange County!

As four to five cameras follow us, I happily work on the feng shui of their homes and offices. It’s always fun to see how the producers of the show put it all together before it goes on the air a few months later.

Most recently, I was in Orange County working with my friend Shannon Beador. She had just moved into a new home and she needed to be assured that her beautiful new home was in good shape, Feng Shui wise.

I simply adore Shannon! We have many years of history going back to when her twins were babies. I liked her on contact. She is such a good soul. This is what she said about my very first time working with her. .

“When my twins were born, my husband and I had to move our 3 year old daughter into a new room. She screamed all night every night. We consulted doctor after doctor and finally Elaine was recommended to us. I was willing to give Feng Shui a try but my husband was skeptical. I called Elaine anyway and when she came to our home, and she saw my daughter’s room, she made some simple adjustments to the furniture and implemented what she called remedies. From that night on, my daughter slept soundly! I also followed her other suggestions and many wonderful things happened for our family. A year after meeting Elaine, my husband built his own office building. He quietly asked for Elaine to come and help him with any Feng Shui issues. She is such a wonderful person with a tremendous heart and we owe her so much!”

Shannon had just moved into her new home when I arrived, and even before I exited my car the cameras were filming my arrival! I had my window open to breathe some fresh air and just before I stopped my car, a quick look in my rear view mirror had my hair standing on end! OK, only time for a quick pat down and a hope for the best! No time for a bathroom break. Full steam ahead.

I also had fun with Vicki Gunvalson when I worked with her on the feng shui of her office. She had me in stitches with her sense of humor! The cameras were rolling. I had to get a grip and not lose my cool. Shannon was with us as the cameras followed all of us from room to room. All in all, it was a good day!

My episode with Shannon will be on the Bravo network in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and I’ll let you know the air date!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my post. As a token of my gratitude, I would like to offer you my FREE E-book,

How Feng Shui Can Travel With You!

I get asked all the time if Feng Shui can help while traveling? I say “Yes, you can take it with you!”
Let’s say you are traveling and will be staying in a hotel. Or perhaps during the holidays you might be bunking with a family member or even traveling on a cruise ship. The following tips can help no matter how you choose to travel. Traveling can also be stressful so taking your feng shui on the road can help!

I always travel with a small bag of what I call “remedies” and if I happen to leave town without them, I definitely feel the difference!

Let’s say you have just arrived at your hotel and you’re given your room key. Ask if you can see the room first. (All hotels should allow this if you ask).  See if you can have a room where the door to your room does not open across the side or the foot of the bed. These issues may create a negative flow of energy across your bed that might interfere with sleep or cause tiredness in the morning. (You might not be able to do this on your cruise ship or your Mom’s guest room, but try and do your best)!

OK, in a perfect world! Your hotel. See if the bed is in the ‘commanding position’ which is the farthest from the doorway allowing you to have have a good view of the doorway without having to turn your head. I’m sure that most hotels will have this but it’s important to have a headboard. You may find that you will feel more grounded and more in control during your waking hours which can help with stress….

The next thing to check out is that your room is not near or adjacent to stairwells, elevators, ice makers, etc. Ask to move if this is what you find, because the noise interference can potentially lower your personal (chi) energy, not to mention  interrupting your sleep patterns. Do the best you can.  You’ll will not always have a choice but if you do, go for it!

If the foot of your bed faces a mirror, do cover it at night or put a plant in front of it. The issue is not to be able to see yourself in the mirror when lying in bed. (This might cause nightmares in children or disrupt sleep in adults).

So now, you have found your perfect or close to perfect room.

The next step is to keep it as clean as possible! Yes, you will have housekeeping in a hotel (don’t ask your Mom) but it’s amazing how much clutter you can amass in just an hour or so!  Please, no throwing clothes, packages, suitcases, etc. on chairs, tabletops or heaven forbid.. the floor!  Immediately on arriving, put your belongings away. Hang your clothes up in your closet and use all the drawers for putting away all your additional “stuff.” If there is room, hide your suitcases in the closet. A clean non-cluttered room will allow the energy to flow and you will sleep and  feel better on awakening. This suggestion is for wherever you are. Be it hotel, family guest room, cruise ship stateroom, or your Bed and Breakfast Inn!

Now you are ready to put some personal belongings you have brought from home around the room. Place photos of your children, spouses, children, pets, even friends.. … The photos will bring you closer to home with a feeling of warmth and happiness. I never travel anywhere without photos of my family and my beloved felines. They are all in lovely frames that I place near my bed and across the room where I can see them on arising.

I also bring my two favorite crystals to place in the SW corner of my hotel room or even my family guest room. (The SW far right corner from the door is the Relationship area). I visualize a very happy experience while I’m away from home…. Good communications, happy family and/or business gatherings and safe travel. I also bring my essential oils (especially lavender for calming) and my diffuzer for a sense of tranquility. I also try to place a small bowl or glass of water for the “shui” of feng shui near the door to my room. This helps in attracting good healthy chi into your space.

I must say when I implement my travel “remedies” my travel experiences are always close to perfection!

Happy Travels to one and all!

Love

Elaine

If you have seen the TV show ‘The Housewives of Orange County’ you might have seen me working (Feng Shui) with two of the housewives on the show (Shannon Beador and Vicki Gunvalson). I have known Shannon for many years and I adore her . She has the biggest heart and she is a wonderful friend.
I originally met Shannon when she was referred to me by her doctor for a feng shui home consultation.  (She was kind enough to write a testimonial for me, see below)! I liked her on contact and I was so pleased that I could help her and her family!

Flash forward 10 years, and Shannon wins a coveted role on the “Housewives” show and she’s off and running into Fame and Success! However her life was not a so called walk in the park. Filming a TV show is very stressful and the hours that have to be devoted to filming can sometimes take a toll on family life, as it did for Shannon. When difficulties occurred, I worked with Shannon and you can see some of that on the show coming up in early November on Bravo. Working with Vicki was also fun! She had me in stitches when I was working on her office AND being followed by 5 cameras!  She’s funny and very smart!

Shannon’s words:  “When my twins were born, my husband and I had to move our 3 year old daughter into a new room. Clutter and Your Relationships!.

Not too long ago, I had a consultation with a client who called me in to help her with a relationship she had with her boyfriend. They both felt “stuck” and were fighting all the time. When I got to the front door and rang the bell, I heard my client yell out, “Oh, just a minute…I want to clear the doorway.” I had a bad feeling!
As I entered the home, or rather “climbed” into the home over boxes, laundry and kitty litter, I could only wonder at what she had cleared out. My initial response was to tell her immediately that I could not work with her feng shui because of her enormous amount of clutter, particularly in her entry way. Feng Shui is about creating good energy in your space to help you achieve a healthier more prosperous life. In order to do that, the energy or “chi” has to be able to move freely throughout your home (or business spaces). The good energy should enter your spaces without having to plow through clutter. It will have no place to go but stagnate right where it is!
She had read that feng shui was able to help create a wonderful peaceful and communicative bedroom, especially with sparing partners. She begged me to look at her bedroom. She requested that I give her immediate “remedies” to help cure her relationship. I tried not to faint when I entered her bedroom.. She had clutter in every area of the room that went up the walls to her ceilings!
After explaining to her that there was no way I could possibly help her until she had a dramatic clutter clearing event, I put my arms around her and assured her that I would help her. I put her in contact with a wonderful professional organizer. She made the appointment and they both worked on transforming her home. My client then called me back. It was now time for Feng Shui!  I didn’t recognize her home!  It was simply remarkable! I looked at her and she was beaming. She looked healthier, rosy cheeks and she had lost weight. She and her boyfriend were starting to get along better, but it was now time to do her feng shui. I gave her some remedies to help with what had already started and the result was, I was just invited to their wedding in October!. They are happier than they have ever been, and I am so happy for them. .

Bottom line, clutter can keep you stagnant and stuck in so MANY areas of your life. Clear the clutter and feel what a difference it makes. You will feel joyous!

Is your bedroom over your garage?

Greetings all!

Is your bedroom over your garage!! (Help is on the way)!

When I am consulting with clients, I have already read their floor plans so I have an opportunity to see many issues on paper before I visit their homes.

One issue in particular that concerns me, is a bedroom over a garage. If any member of your family is sleeping over your garage it could have a negative affect on health and well-being.

If you have a garage under your bedroom or under your child’s bedroom, we need to talk!

A garage is considered in Feng Shui a “negative energy space.” Meaning that a garage is an unstable place. Sound troublesome? Let me explain.

There are a few issues that you should be aware of when you sleep above a garage. The garage is normally a place where cars are parked OR (mostly) clutter has gained control over the whole space! Sound familiar?

Since clutter stops the healing flow of (chi) or energy, you are literally sleeping over stagnation! Not too swell! If your health is fragile or you are not sleeping well, this could make it worse..

Children maybe even more affected! .

When cars are going in and out, the energy in the garage has a hard time stabilizing, creating a space that is weak and changeable. On top of that, parked cars also create a huge magnetic energy field, and that issue has been associated with lethargy, headaches, sleep disorders and certain illnesses. Sleeping over that would make me a tad nervous!

Now, what to do??

Here are two of the major “remedies” we use for correcting the negative aspects of this issue.

  1. Hang a large brass wind chime in the center ceiling of the garage. (This will help move energy upward and begin to dissipate some of the stagnation).
  2. In the above bedroom, to help stabilize the entire space, place four heavy weights, either 4 rocks, 4 heavy vases, or 4 quartz crystals in all four corners of the room. (This will also work to “ground” the occupant above).

Let me know if you sleep better and have more energy! Also, you may see your child do better in school!!

Many Blessings to you!

Elaine

Insomnia? Try this Feng Shui mirror remedy!

There is a wonderful saying that “Mirrors are the Aspirin of Feng Shui!

I first heard the statement in one of my classes years ago and I must say, I was intriqued!

Regarding Feng Shui, there are different schools and  techniques and that can be somewhat confusing for someone looking for the right answer… Especially with the use of mirrors.!

For me, it was easy. I was being trained by one of the most brilliant  teachers in Feng Shui! I followed his teachings to the max and that resulted in the most profound results for my own students and clients!

And that’s why I get to share some wonderful tips with you!

Last week, I talked about mirrors in the bedroom. Today, we are still in the bedroom, but I want to give you a tip on how a mirror or two may help with sleep issues.

INSOMNIA!

There seems to be a plague going around where more and more people are having sleep issues. The amount of sleep medication in this country is at an all time high.

Before you head for the medicine cabinet, maybe try a simple Feng Shui “remedy” used to help you sleep and stay asleep. (It’s so simple, it’s ridiculous)!

It’s not a magic cure, but it really helps!

I hear you. You’re giggling as you peruse your shelf. How can I possibly live without my: Ambien, Lunesta, Rozerem and even melatonin (which has some weird side affects for some people). I had some nasty nightmares on melatonin!

Now, I’m not suggesting that you go cold turkey and throw out your medication!!! Yipes, NO!! And always talk to your doctor before making ANY medication changes!!

But if you’re thinking about going on sleep medication, or maybe you’re trying to scale down on what you’re already taking, try this non invasive, perfectly benign sleep “remedy.” (When my stress level was out of control, I tried this and it helped)!

REMEDY

Find a 3″ round plain mirror.  (See above).

Next you’ll  want to lift your mattress a bit to place the mirror (mirrored side up) between the mattress and the box spring right below your head.

Visualize that the mirror is producing a calming and balancing affect on your body. See yourself falling asleep and staying asleep all night. Each night before getting in bed, think of the mirror and how lovely your sleep will be!

It sounds too easy, but it is known to work more times than not, so give it a try and let me know what happens!! It certainly can’t hurt!!

Happy Snoozing!

Elaine

Next week I’ll talk about mirror remedies for breathing or lung problems. (A mirror remedy might help asthma, especially for children)!

Feng Shui and Prayer

Hi everyone!

You haven’t heard much from me lately as I took a little sabbatical from blogging to continue my studies in Feng Shui.

(There is always more to learn and as you know, feng shui is my passion)!I’m so excited to share some wonderful ideas and tips on how Feng Shui can improve your life! I will be blogging regularly to assist you in any way I can!

I must tell you the joy I personally receive from having good Feng Shui in my own life. I’ve had many challenges,  my share of heartbreak and disappointments but I can tell you truthfully, that with out the balance and  harmony that feng shui has provided for me, I would be a mess!

No, I’m not being dramatic…it’s true!!

I also believe in the power of prayer. Since Feng Shui has absolutely nothing to do with religion, I am free to worship as I wish. Feng Shui will never get in the way of my strong belief in God and my Christian beliefs.

I also receive so much joy from my clients who report such wonderful results from having Feng Shui done in their homes and offices! Maybe that’s why I often suffer from TMJ symptoms as I’m constantly smiling from ear to ear! (I must run that by my doctor)!!

Today I have a tip for you!

MIRRORS!

I get questions about mirrors so often in my practice that I decided to  devote some blogging time to try and clear up some confusion.

Stay tuned for future blogs on the subject!

So many people ask me about mirrors in the bedroom! In our school of Feng Shui, mirrors placed correctly in a bedroom are a good source of positive energy.

A round or oval mirror in a master bedroom is always good for marital harmony. (If you’re standing at the door of your bedroom, the best place for the mirror would be the far right corner of the room. This is considered the Relationship corner of the bedroom).

Another good place would be on the wall behind your bed. Now, many of you worry about earthquakes here in California, but if you have a good handyman who can secure it with bolts, etc. you’ll be fine.

The main “remedy” for a mirror behind the bed is that issues of the past can be released and resolved. (This was important for me personally as I had to work through some painful issues in my own life)!

I have a lovely antique mirror behind my bed and I feel quite safe. The way it’s secured, the entire wall would have to fall, in which case? Oh dear!!

Check in with me again to get some more tips on how to encourage abundance, prosperity, better health and happier relationships with Feng Shui!

I send Many Blessings,

Elaine

Don’t Waste That Lemon Peel!

DON’T WASTE THAT LEMON PEEL

My good friend, Jenny sent me this article and I thought I’d share it with you!

Many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using or consuming the
entire lemon so nothing is wasted. How can you use the whole lemon without waste?

Simple..place the lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator.
Once the lemon is frozen, get out your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods.

Sprinkle it on whiskey, wine, vegetables, salad, ice cream, soup, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi and all fish dishes..

All of these foods will unexpectedly have a wonderful taste!

What’s the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your dishes?

Well,  lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. And yes, that’s what you’ve been wasting.

But from now on, by following this simple procedure of freezing the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes, you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier!

So place your lemon in your freezer, and then grate it on your meal every day. It is a key to make your foods tastier and you get to live healthier and longer!

Yours in Good health and Good feng shui!

Elaine
